A SUMMARY OF CIRCUMCISION
6)   Abraham’s faith / obedience unto YHVH was counted for righteousness (Genesis 12:1-4, 15:1-6) (circumcision of the heart) and then he was commanded to be circumcised in the flesh (Genesis 17:9-12)
A circumcised heart loves YHVH and follows Torah (Deuteronomy 30:6, Joshua 22:5)

THE ANCIENT PHARISEES BECAME RABBINIC JUDAISM
                    Source: Wikipedia Encyclopedia
The Pharisees (from the Hebrew perushim, from parash, meaning "to separate") were depending on the time, a political party, a social movement, and a school of thought among Jews that flourished during the Second Temple Era (536 BCE – 70 CE). After the destruction of the Second Temple, Pharisaic Judaism came to be known as Rabbinic Judaism and then simply as Judaism. The Pharisees were an ancient sect of Judaism. They existed during the time of rabbis Hillel the Elder and Shammai and during the time of Jesus. They are the direct predecessor to what eventually became known as Rabbinic Judaism.
THE ANCIENT PHARISEES BECAME RABBINIC JUDAISM
                       Source: Wikipedia Encyclopedia
In contrast to other Jewish groups of the time, such as Sadducees, Pharisees held that the books of the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible also called the written law) have always been transmitted in parallel with an oral tradition. They pointed as proof to the text of the Torah itself where they said many words were left undefined and many procedures mentioned without explanation or instructions; the reader is assumed to be familiar with the details from other sources. This parallel set of material was originally transmitted orally and came to be known as "the oral law". By the year 200 A.D. much of this material was edited together into the Mishnah, the core document of rabbinic Judaism.
CONVERTING TO ORTHODOX JUDAISM
When a Gentile wants to become Jewish, the Rabbis are required to try to dissuade him.
"Can I convert to Judaism and still believe in Jesus?" The answer is no. This is not something negotiable in Judaism.
There is only one way to become Jewish. That one way is through an Orthodox-Jewish Beit Din (Court). To begin, you need to find a Rabbi.
4)   You will have to study a great deal. And then you will have to study more. When your Rabbi feels you are ready for conversion, he will test you on the materials he gave you to study.
CONVERTING TO ORTHODOX JUDAISM
5) A rabbi will bring you before a Bais Din (also pronounced Beit Din), that is, a Jewish Court, and set up an appointment schedule. The Rabbi may still try and dissuade you a bit and the Bais Din certainly will try. When they are satisfied that you should be converted, and that you are sincere, they will set up the actual arrangements.
6) Men will need to get circumcised. Men who are already circumcised undergo a ceremony known as "Hatafas Dam Bris." This means that a small drop of blood is taken during the Bris ceremony.
CONVERTING TO ORTHODOX JUDAISM
7) One of the most fundamental rules in Judaism is respect and honor for the Rabbis and Halachic authorities.
8) It is impossible to properly fulfill Judaism unless you are part of a Jewish community and congregation.
WHAT IS THE CONVERSION PROCESS ?
When a Gentile wants to become Jewish, the Rabbis are required to try to dissuade him.
You will have to study the Torah. When your Rabbi feels you are ready for conversion, he will test you on the materials he gave you to study.
Men will need to get circumcised.
Have respect and honor for the Rabbis and Halachic authorities.
5)   Join a Jewish community and congregation.
WHAT WAS THE TORAH DISPUTE ?
Acts 15:1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved [join the community of Israel through the conversion process].
Acts 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them [go through the Pharisaic / Rabbinic conversion process] and to command them to keep the law of Moses [study the Torah laws and be approved for conversion by a Rabbinical court and be circumcised upon conversion]
DID PAUL TEACH CIRCUMCISION?
Acts 15:22 Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
Acts 15:23 And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
Acts 15:24 Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
Acts 15:25 It seemed good unto us being assembled with one accord to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul
DID PAUL TEACH CIRCUMCISION?
Acts 21:17 And when we were come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.
Acts 21:18 And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
Acts 21:19 And when he had saluted them, he declared particularly what things God had wrought among the Gentiles by his ministry.
Acts 21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe and they are all zealous of the law:
DID PAUL TEACH CIRCUMCISION?
Acts 21:21 And they are informed of thee that you teach all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
Acts 21:22 What is it therefore? the multitude must needs come together: for they will hear that thou art come.
Acts 21:23 Do therefore this that we say to thee: We have four men which have a vow on them;
Acts 21:24 Them take, and purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may shave their heads: and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that you yourself also walk orderly and keep the law.
HOW WAS PAUL BEING CHALLENGED?
Paul was being challenged as to whether he taught Jews to not circumcise their children (Acts 21:21)
Paul was being challenged as to whether he followed the Torah (Acts 21:24)
PAUL DECLARES THAT
HE FOLLOWS TORAH
Acts 22:1 Men, brethren, and fathers, hear ye my defense which I make now unto you.
Acts 24:13 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.
Acts 25:8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
CIRCUMCISION IN
THE NEW TESTAMENT
YESHUA WAS CIRCUMCISED
Luke 2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.
CIRCUMCISION REFERS TO SOMEONE WHO IS JEWISH
Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished as many as came with Peter because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 11:2 And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him
Romans 3:1 What advantage then has the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
CIRCUMCISION REFERS TO A JEW AND UNCIRCUMCISION REFERS TO A NON-JEW
Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God which shall justify the circumcision by faith and uncircumcision through faith.
Romans 4:9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
CIRCUMCISION REFERS TO A JEW AND UNCIRCUMCISION REFERS TO A NON-JEW
Galatians 2:7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter
Galatians 2:9 And when James, Cephas, and John … they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship that we should go unto the heathen and they unto the circumcision.
CIRCUMCISION REFERS TO A JEW AND UNCIRCUMCISION REFERS TO A NON-JEW
1 Corinthians 7:18 Is any man called being circumcised [A Jew]? let him not become uncircumcised [act like the nations]. Is any called in uncircumcision [non-Jew]? let him not be circumcised [follow the customs of the Jews].
1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision [being born Jewish] is nothing and uncircumcision [being born a non-Jew] is nothing but the keeping of the commandments of God.
SPIRITUALLY, WHO ARE THE CIRCUMCISED ?
Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision which worship God in the spirit and rejoice in Messiah Yeshua and have no confidence in the flesh.
Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Circumcised in the heart = Follow Torah
Circumcised in the heart (follow Torah) through the help of the Holy Spirit
Circumcised in the heart (follow Torah through the help of the Holy Spirit) believe that Yeshua is the Messiah
WHAT WAS
PAUL’S PERSPECTIVE OF CIRCUMCISION ?
PAUL’S TORAH ARGUMENT
WAS DEUTERONOMY 10:12-16
Acts 15:2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them …
Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you …
Deuteronomy 10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart and be no more stiffnecked.
SOME TORAH COMMANDMENTS ARE WEIGHTIER THAN OTHERS
Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments …
Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith: these ought ye to have done and not to leave the other undone.
WHAT HAS GREATER WEIGHT?
SUMMARY: ROMANS 2
PAUL COMPARES NON-JEWS WHO ARE NOT PHYSICALLY CIRCUMCISED BUT FOLLOW TORAH (CIRCUMCISED IN THE HEART)
JEWS WHO ARE CIRCUMCISED IN THE FLESH BUT DON’T FOLLOW TORAH (UNCIRCUMCISED IN THE HEART)
PAUL DESCRIBES NON-JEWS WHO ARE CIRCUMCISED IN THEIR HEART
Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles which have not the law do by nature the things contained in the law …
Romans 2:15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts …
CIRCUMCISION = WORSHIP YHVH IN SPIRIT
CIRCUMCISION = BELIEVE IN MESSIAH YESHUA
Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision which worship God in the spirit and rejoice in Messiah Yeshua and have no confidence in the flesh.
JEWS WHO BREAK THE LAW ARE REGARDED AS BEING UNCIRCUMCISED
Romans 2:17 Behold, you are called a Jew and rests in the law and make your boast of God
Romans 2:23 You that make your boast of the law through breaking the law dishonour thou God?
Romans 2:25 For [physical] circumcision verily profits if you keep the law [circumcised in the heart]: but if you be a breaker of the law [uncircumcised in the heart] your [physical] circumcision is made [spiritually] uncircumcision.
CIRCUMCISION = THOSE THAT KEEP THE LAW
Romans 2:26 Therefore if the uncircumcision [non-Jewish believers in Yeshua as the Messiah] keep the righteousness of the law [have the Torah written upon their heart and are doers of the Torah] shall not his [physical] uncircumcision be counted for circumcision [right standing with YHVH]?
THOSE THAT KEEP THE TORAH
WILL JUDGE THOSE WHO DON’T
Romans 2:27 And shall not uncircumcision [Non-Jewish believers in Yeshua as the Messiah] which is by nature if it fulfil the law [have the Torah written upon your heart and be a doer of the law] judge you who by the letter and circumcision [Jew: physical] do transgress the law? [have a stony heart toward Torah and don’t follow the Torah]
A JEW MEANS A PRAISER OF YHVH
Esther 2:5 Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew <03064> whose name was Mordecai …
Genesis 29:35 And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah <03063> and left bearing.
3063 hd'Why> Y’huwdah •  from 03034; Judah = "praised”
3034 hd'y" yadah • praise 53, give thanks 32
3064 ydIWhy> Y’huwdiy •  from 03063 1) Jew
A PRAISER OF YHVH HAS A CIRCUMCISED HEART AND FOLLOWS TORAH
Romans 2:28 For he is not a Jew [praiser of YHVH] which is one outwardly [physically circumcised but doesn’t follow Torah]; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Romans 2:29 But he is a Jew [praiser of YHVH], which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart [one that follows Torah], in the spirit [with the help of the Holy Spirit], and not in the letter [physically circumcised but doesn’t follow Torah]; whose praise is not of men, but of God [YHVH praises those who follow Torah].
Psalm 119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way who walk in the Torah of the LORD.
ABRAHAM WAS JUSTIFIED IN THE HEART AND THEN WAS PHYSICALLY CIRCUMCISED
Romans 4:1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father as pertaining to the flesh has found?
Romans 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works he has whereof to glory but not before God.
Romans 4:3 For what says the scripture? Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
ABRAHAM WAS JUSTIFIED IN THE HEART AND THEN WAS PHYSICALLY CIRCUMCISED
Romans 4:10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision but in uncircumcision.
Romans 4:11 And he received the sign of circumcision a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe though they be not circumcised that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
TITUS WAS NOT PHYSICALLY CIRCUMCISED
Galatians 2:3 But neither Titus who was with me being a Greek was compelled to be circumcised:
Titus was a non-Jewish believer in Yeshua and was circumcised in the heart (Titus 1:3).
Paul did not compel Titus to get circumcised because he was a non-Jew who lived in exile outside the land of Israel.
PAUL CONDEMNS BEING
PHYSICALLY CIRCUMCISED AND FOLLOWING RABBINIC JUDAISM
Galatians 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law [follow Rabbinic Judaism, be circumcised in the flesh but not in the heart], do ye not hear the law?
Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free [being circumcised in the heart and follow the Torah with the help of the Holy Spirit being believers in Yeshua as the Messiah] and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage [follow Rabbinic Judaism and the ‘works of the law’].
PAUL CONDEMNS BEING
PHYSICALLY CIRCUMCISED AND FOLLOWING RABBINIC JUDAISM
Galatians 5:2 Behold, I Paul say unto you that if ye be circumcised [physically circumcised but follow Rabbinic Judaism] Messiah shall profit you nothing.
Galatians 5:3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised [physically circumcised but follow Rabbinic Judaism and by uncircumcised by not following the Torah of the Messiah], that he is a debtor to do the whole law [the law condemns you to spiritual death]
A TORAH DISPUTE BETWEEN
PHARISAIC BELIEVERS IN YESHUA
Acts 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
Acts 15:2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them …
A SECT OF PHARISAIC BELIEVERS
TORAH ARGUMENT WAS GENESIS 17:9-10
Acts 15:2 When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them …
Genesis 17:9 And God said unto Abraham, You shall keep my covenant therefore, you and your seed after you in their generations.
Genesis 17:10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and your seed after you; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
A TORAH DISPUTE
BETWEEN PHARISAIC BELIEVERS
Acts 15:5 But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
WHAT WAS PAUL’S POSITION?
A non-Jew who lives outside the land of Israel and believes that Yeshua is the Messiah and is circumcised in the heart (follows Torah with the help of the Holy Spirit) is not required to be physically circumcised or go through a conversion process that requires physical circumcision
Abraham obeyed YHVH and his faith was counted as righteousness. After Abraham believed YHVH (circumcised in the heart) then YHVH asked him to be physically circumcised.
A Jew who is physically circumcised but doesn’t follow Torah is spiritually regarded as being ‘uncircumcised’ and a ‘debtor to the whole law’
WHAT WAS PAUL’S POSITION?
4)   A non-Jew who is physically uncircumcised and believes that Yeshua is the Messiah and is circumcised in the heart (follows the Torah with the help of the Holy Spirit) is spiritually regarded as being ‘circumcised’
Whether you are Jewish or non-Jewish, you are to keep the commandments of YHVH or follow Torah
