Subject: Israel Trip Report
Dear Mishpochah (family):
From May 22 - June 3, I travelled to Jerusalem, Israel with Rich
Richardson from CRMI who will be hosting this fall's 2002 Feast of
Tabernacles celebration in Jerusalem from September 18-29. The
purpose of our trip to Israel was to help plan and prepare for the
fall conference and to make better personal contact with those from
the Jewish community who will be celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles
this year in Jerusalem.
So far, we have had a very good response from those who are
interested in going with us to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of
Tabernacles in Jerusalem this year with those from the Jewish
community. We would like for this feast celebration in Jerusalem to
be one that can help to 'build bridges' between the Christian / Hebraic
roots world and the Jewish community. Furthermore, you will be able
to visit the land of Israel while celebrating one of the Biblical
Festivals which will be celebrated by ALL nations during the
Messianic Era should you decide to come to Jerusalem with us this
year to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
When Rick and I went to Jerusalem, we did not have each day
planned. Before I went to Israel on this trip, I contacted Yair
Davidi, an Orthodox Jew, who lives in Jerusalem. Yair invited me to
stay at his apartment while I was in Jerusalem. When our van drove
from the airport in Tel Aviv and reached Yair's apartment and I was
dropped off, Rick realized that the place where he was staying for
the week and renting was about 2 blocks away! WOW! We didn't even
know. This made is alot easier for us to do things together in
Jerusalem for the week. This was our first sign of YHVH's divine
providence upon this trip to help us prepare for Sukkot 2002.
The first day in Jerusalem, we visited the mayor of Jerusalem's
office. Last year when Rick took a group to Jerusalem to celebrate
the Feast of Tabernacles, the mayor had kind words to say to Rick and
the group when they met. The mayor wasn't at his office when we were
there so we left a message to his secretary if he would be willing to
give a welcome message of 5-10 minutes to the group. This request is
pending.
Following a message to the mayor's office, , Rick and I went to the Old City. In
the Old City, we visited a shop of an Orthodox Jew, Moshe Kempinski,
who will be speaking during the Feast of Tabernacles. This was the
first time that I had met Moshe and I was VERY IMPRESSED in how he
understood the mindset of evangelical Christianity and those
believers in Messiah who have a heart for their Hebraic Heritage.
Later, Rick was able to meet with Reuven Prager, Reuven is an
Orthodox Jew who has worked the last 10 years in the restoration of
Biblical garments, the ancient Jewish wedding, the 1/2 shekel for the
Temple and other projects. From talking with Reuven, he ageed to
speak to our Sukkot group this September. Reuven makes a trip to the
USA each each to promote the work which he is doing in Jerusalem.
Rick also visited Rabbi Chaim Richman. Rabbi Richman is
instrumental in work being done regarding the future Temple. He is
associated with the 'Temple Institute' in Jerusalem. However, due to
his schedule, Rabbi Richman will not be able to speak to our Sukkot
group.
One day, Rick made a trip to Tel Aviv and talked with a
representative of several university professors. Several university
professors have agreed to speak to the group through his contacts
with them. They will be speaking on various subject matters.
Rick and I spend several days (a significant portion of each day)
with Rabbi Feld. Rabbi Feld is the primary rabbi in Israel who is
supporting Yair Davidi and Brit-Am who are promoting awareness of the
restoration and reunification of both houses of Israel in then end of
days (Ezekiel 37:15-28). One day Rabbi Feld took Rick and I and some
believers in the land to a settlement in the West Bank which played a
very historical role in defending Jerusalem during the 1948 and 1967
wars. We watched a film and visited a historic site. We received a
brochure and information about this historical settlement. He also
showed us around various places within Jerusalem.
Rick was able to meet on several occasions and spent two Shabbat's
with Rabbi Fogleman who will be one of the speakers for Sukkot 2002.
Rick also talked with individuals who will be sponsoring various
tours within and surrounding Jerusalem for those who will be with us
for Sukkot 2002.
While there will be various people from the Jewish community who
will be speaking to our tour group each morning for Sukkot, the tour
group will be on our own during each afternoon and evening to do
various activities which are being planned.
One day, I was ahle to share with Rabbi Feld for about 1 1/2
hours from the writings in the prophets of why we are living in the
end of days and why this indicates that we are close to the
restoration adn regathering of both houses of Israel. Rabbi Feld was
VERY receptive to the message and took very DETAILED notes of the
scriptures which I shared with him. Rabbi Feld is VERY ACTIVE in
Israel in speaking with other rabbis and governmental people about
the two houses of Israel.
There was an individual who moved to Israel from South Africa who
I met in South Africa when I did a weekend seminar with Ephraim Frank
in March. We had a meeting in a Jerusalem restaurant with Ephraim
Frank and an individual who works with the International Christian
Embassy and another individual who is doing volunteer work for
Christians for Israel. We talked about various subjects and how
we can continue working to be a blessing to the Jewish people and the
nation of Israel. Among the ideas discussed was encouraging believers
to come to Israel to celebrate Passover on an annual basis.
One of these individuals from the International Christian Embassy
is a strong supporter and promoter of the message of the restoration
of both houses of Israel to his native country. I also discovered
that there was another believer from the International Christian
Embassy who knew me and wanted to speak with me about various things.
While he read my book, "Restoring the Two Houses of Israel", he had
not read my book, "Who is the Bride of Christ?" and later ordered the
book from me. He shared with me his personal testimony and why he
also has an interest in the restoration of both houses of Israel
among other things.
I also got to visit with Jon Hulley. Jon Hulley has been
researching the Ten Lost Tribes for over 20 years and is close to
printing a book on the subject. His wife, Jill, is putting together
several workbooks to help believers to understanding the two houses
of Israel.
One day while I was with Rabbi Feld, we visited with Gershon
Solomon of the Temple Mount Faithful. Rabbi Feld's daughter works
with the Temple Mount Faithful and they were having a meeting on the day
that I visited with them. Gershon expressed interest in speaking to
our group for Sukkot. However, Rick wasn't with me when I visited
with Gershon so Gershon's desire to speak to our tour group is
pending based upon working things out with Rick who is coordinating
the event.
In spending time with Yair Davidi, I was able to experience two
Orthodox Jewish Shabbat's in Jerusalem. Shabbat begins with services
in the synogogues (which I really couldn't follow or understand
because they were mainly in Hebrew) and then it is considered a GREAT
MITZVAH to invite others to spend Shabbat evening and have a meal
together. Yair and I went to a Rabbi's house where there was about 75
people who was at his house for the Shabbat meal. You start eating at
about 9PM and get done about midnight or 1AM. It's like having a
'thanksgiving' meal each week. Just when I thought that all of the
food was served then MORE and MORE came.
The following week, Yair's neighbor invited him and I over for
Shabbat. His neighbor is a Chabad Chassidic Jew. There were 3 or 4
families and about 15-18 people at his house. I shared with this
Chabad Chassidic Jew that I believed that I was 'his brother Joseph /
Ephraim'. His was VERY interested and spent MUCH of the evening
talking with Yair about the issue. The Chassidic Jew felt most
comfortable speaking Hebrew and French and not so comfortable
speaking English. While this Chassidic Jew was born in Israel, he
spend most of his childhood in France before moving back to Israel.
While I was in Jerusalem, someone who works with Michael Rood
found out that I was in Jerusalem and invited me to visit with
Michael Rood and his staff. Michael is a believer in Messiah and in
currently in Israel for about 3 years to do what is planned to be
about 60 1/2 hour TV programs that is planned to be broadcast mainly
through satellite TV throughout the English and Spanish speaking
worlds. More detailed info is at his website located at:
Through it all, Rick and I felt that we had made some very
important connections and got to know on a more personal basis
various people from the Jewish community in Israel.
Since the 10 day trip had no formal plans when we arrived in
Israel, we were quite pleased how each day was spent in a valuable
way making valuable contacts and helping to make stronger connections
with those who will be speaking with our group during Sukkot 2002.
So, if you haven't decided to go with us yet and decire to do so,
there are only about 3 months until Sukkot so you need to make your
plans NOW and send in your deposit for the trip. Once again, more
detailed info about the trip is contained in the e-mail below.
