Isaiah 38
[Isaiah 38:1] IN THOSE DAYS WAS HEZEKIAH SICK UNTO DEATH. AND
ISAIAH THE PROPHET THE SON OF AMOZ CAME UNTO HIM, AND SAID UNTO HIM, THUS
SAITH THE LORD, SET THINE HOUSE IN ORDER: FOR THOU SHALT DIE, AND NOT LIVE.

The Prophet said he was going to die. He did not say "you are in danger of
dieing." He prophesied he would die. Nevetheless Hezekiah prayed. This
establishes the Talmudic principles:

1. In every situation, even the seemingly most impossible, always pray. God
is always approachable, always capable of mercy.

2. Prophecies for good always come true somehow or other almost despite how
undeserving we may become (Jeremiah 28;9).

3. Prophecies for bad can always be averted through prayer and repentance.

[Isaiah 42:1] BEHOLD MY SERVANT, WHOM I UPHOLD; MINE ELECT, IN WHOM MY
SOUL DELIGHTETH; I HAVE PUT MY SPIRIT UPON HIM: HE SHALL BRING FORTH
JUDGMENT TO THE GENTILES. "

BEHOLD MY SERVANT" remember [Isaiah 41:8] BUT THOU, ISRAEL, ART MY
SERVANT: they shall judge and rule over the other nations and instruct them. Others (such as
the Malbim) say that in this case "my servant" refers to the future Messiah. The
passage can be understood in both senses.

[Isaiah 42:4] HE SHALL NOT FAIL NOR BE DISCOURAGED, TILL HE HAVE SET
JUDGMENT IN THE EARTH: AND THE ISLES SHALL WAIT FOR HIS LAW.

Israel who are in the Isles will return to His Law.

[Isaiah 42:6] I THE LORD HAVE CALLED THEE IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND WILL
HOLD THINE HAND, AND WILL KEEP THEE, AND GIVE THEE FOR A COVENANT OF
THE PEOPLE, FOR A LIGHT OF THE GENTILES;

"A COVENANT OF THE PEOPLE" in Hebrew Brit-Am. Israel will be a
"Brit-Am". IN the Middle Ages Britain sometimes referred to herself as
"Britammia". The Malbim says that "Brit-Am' means Israel. This is why
we chose "Brit-Am for our organization. "Brit-Am" represents the Lost
Ten Tribes returning. Other reasons were that "Brit-Am" hints at
Britain from whom many of those to whom we direct our message
originate. Our friend Cecil Davis pointed out that "Brit-Am" can also
be understand as a shortened way of saying "Britain and America". "A
LIGHT OF THE GENTILES" On the whole the Lost Ten Tribes have
instructed and enlightened other nations.

[Isaiah 42:7] TO OPEN THE BLIND EYES, TO BRING OUT THE PRISONERS
FROM THE PRISON, AND THEM THAT SIT IN DARKNESS OUT OF THE PRISON
HOUSE.

"THE PRISONERS FROM THE PRISON" a large portion of the early settlers
of America (one-third?) were released prisoners from Britain. Most of
the first colonisers of Australia were prisoners. The Jews were
released by Allied soldiers from German concentration camps and then
set up the State of Israel. Israel on the whole in its exile is blind
and imprisoned by circumstance and historical experiences. This
prevents us from going upwards and acting, feeling, and thinking as
we should.

[Isaiah 42:8] I AM THE LORD: THAT IS MY NAME: AND MY GLORY WILL I
NOT GIVE TO ANOTHER, NEITHER MY PRAISE TO GRAVEN IMAGES.

God does not allow the respect due to Him to be given to others.

[Isaiah 42:10] SING UNTO THE LORD A NEW SONG, AND HIS PRAISE FROM
THE END OF THE EARTH, YE THAT GO DOWN TO THE SEA, AND ALL THAT IS
THEREIN; THE ISLES, AND THE INHABITANTS THEREOF.

This could be seen as applied to all the peoples of the earth but
applying it to the Lost Tribes of Israel fits just as well if not
better according to the context. End of the earth = most Israelites
dwell at the geographical extremities of the earth when Jerusalem is
consider the center. "GO DOWN TO THE SEA" Seagoers. ISLES = islands
and coastland dwellers.

[Isaiah 42:13] THE LORD SHALL GO FORTH AS A MIGHTY MAN, HE SHALL
STIR UP JEALOUSY LIKE A MAN OF WAR: HE SHALL CRY, YEA, ROAR; HE SHALL
PREVAIL AGAINST HIS ENEMIES.

The enemies of Israel are the enemies of God.

[Isaiah 42:16] AND I WILL BRING THE BLIND BY A WAY THAT THEY KNEW
NOT; I WILL LEAD THEM IN PATHS THAT THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN: I WILL MAKE
DARKNESS LIGHT BEFORE THEM, AND CROOKED THINGS STRAIGHT. THESE THINGS
WILL I DO UNTO THEM, AND NOT FORSAKE THEM.

Israel in Exile are as if blinded and in darkness.

[Isaiah 42:18] HEAR, YE DEAF; AND LOOK, YE BLIND, THAT YE MAY SEE.

"Deaf" are they who do not hearken to Scripture and to the comforting
of Prophecy. "Blind" are they who do not see the truth and maybe
almost cannot.

[Isaiah 42:21] THE LORD IS WELL PLEASED FOR HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE;
HE WILL MAGNIFY THE LAW, AND MAKE IT HONOURABLE.

Usually understood in Hebrew as meaning: God wanted for the sake of
huis righteousness and purifying force to make the Torah magnified
(large and great) and expnaisviely empowering, i.e. God gave us a Law
that is very all-encompassing, detailed, and demanding in order to
purify and empower us for the sake of His glory in which we
participate.

[Isaiah 42:22] BUT THIS IS A PEOPLE ROBBED AND SPOILED; THEY ARE ALL
OF THEM SNARED IN HOLES, AND THEY ARE HID IN PRISON HOUSES: THEY ARE FOR
A PREY, AND NONE DELIVERETH; FOR A SPOIL, AND NONE SAITH, RESTORE. "A
PEOPLE ROBBED"

This may happen to all Israel in the Last Days. Judah
can also be referred to on occasion in Prophecy under the term
"Israel." Judah was robbed and a prey for all throughout all Europe
and all the lands of Islam. In the Last Days Israel will be
transformed and become the agency of the Almighty to spread
instruction and direction to all.

[Isaiah 42:24] WHO GAVE JACOB FOR A SPOIL, AND ISRAEL TO THE
ROBBERS? DID NOT THE LORD, HE AGAINST WHOM WE HAVE SINNED? FOR THEY
WOULD NOT WALK IN HIS WAYS, NEITHER WERE THEY OBEDIENT UNTO HIS LAW.

All the troubles that have come upon us were due to our disobedience.

Aliyah. Migration to Israel.

Prophecy says that ultimately Judah and Joseph (Israel) will
re-unite and inherit the land. This will happen in the future. The
re-unification will be that of two separate communal bodies rather
than of individuals. A pre-requisite is recognition by both Judah and
Joseph of their identities. This is what we are working on. We do not
deal with religious issues. Neither do we encourage non-Jewish people
to come to Israel to settle here. The necessary pre-requisites do not
exist. [On the other hand people do make their own decisions on an
individual level and we are not criticizing them.]

In general:

Judah has to know where the Ten Tribes are.
The Ten Tribes have to realize who they are.
Our task is to do what we can in this direction.

The Principles of Brit-Am require:
1. Acceptance of Prophecy.
2. Self-Respect (no hatred of fellow Israelite groups, no antisemitism)

3. Acknowledgement of The Israelite Identity of many
people amongst Western Nations.

The aims of Brit-Am are to encourage:
1. The spread of Identity Awareness.
2. Increased Identity research and clarification.
3. Association of members together for the sake of learning and
fellowship.

Brit-Am membership dues are $40 for one year
$70 for two years.
$120 for three five years.

"BRIT-AM ISRAEL" BELIEVES:

* The Hebrew Bible is the message of God.

* Out of the original 12 Tribes of Israel Ten were lost. Two
remained. The present-day Jews are descended mainly from the two
remaining Tribes of Judah and Benjamin.

* The Khazars were a Kingdom in southern Russia many of whose
leaders converted to Judaism. The Khazars were descended from the
Lost Ten Tribes. The Khazars were blood-relatives of the Picts who
went to Scotland, and of the Anglo-Saxons, and of peoples in
Scandinavia.

* In addition to the Khazars, many other converts to Judaism
through the ages were descended from assimilated Jews or from members
of the Lost Ten Tribes.

* Most of the Lost Ten Tribes migrated to Northwest and Western
Europe and their descendants are now in those areas or in North
America, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

* We do not claim that all residents of the said nations are
descended from Israel. We do however affirm that most descendants of
the Lost Ten Tribes are residents of those nations. On the whole
they are unaware of their Israelite Identity. Even so in the course
of history the Israelite origins of peoples in those areas have
influenced national developments and national characteristics.

* The Tribe of Joseph was divided into two other Tribes: Ephraim
and Menasseh. People from ALL of the Israelite Tribes congregated in
North America but in general the U.S.A. is dominated by Menasseh.
Britain has characteristics of Ephraim.

* Reuben was important in France, Issachar in Switzerland, Benjamin
in Belgium, Zebulon in Holland, Dan in Denmark, Naphtali in Norway,
Gad in Sweden, the country of Finland was influenced by the Tribes of
Simeon, Issachar, and Gad; Simeon, Dan, and Ephraim were important in
Ireland.

* There is a need for the present-day "Jews" of Judah and the Lost
Ten Tribes to recognize each other, and to work towards
re-unification and reconciliation.

* Proof exists confirming "Brit-Am Israel" Identity beliefs. Some
of the evidence has been presented in works by Yair Davidy such as
"The Tribes" (1993), "Ephraim" (1995), and "Lost Israelite Identity"
(1996), as well as in articles in our journal "Tribesman". Much
additional evidence is available and needs to be uncovered and
published. Our sources include the Bible, Talmud, Midrashim,
Commentators, Classical Greek and Roman historians, Chroniclers,
Legends, Linguistics, Archaeology, and where pertinent racial and
other scientific studies.

* Even though much of the evidence has been revealed by ourselves it
is not ours alone. Our proofs have never been properly refuted. The
basic claims we have made are irrefutable. If one cannot deny our
claims and there is nobody else who can it follows that one should
accept them. This means that the identity of the Lost Ten Tribes of
Israel with western peoples should be acknowledged. Once this
acknowledgment is forthcoming it is possible to discuss whatever
practical conclusions need to be made.

the MAGAZINE BRIT-AM. The articles and the information in the magazine
was OUTSTANDING.

It is VITAL in these days in which we live to understand that the
belief in the restoration of both houses of Israel / Messianic
Redemption / Ingathering of the Exiles and the reuniting of Ephraim
(Ten Lost Tribes) with Judah and Ephraim returning to Torah is a
fundamental and foundational belief of Orthodox Judaism. It is one of
the 13 articles of Jewish faith and a prayer for the Messianic
Redemption / Restoration of both houses of Israel is prayed THREE
times a day by Orthodox Jews.

I would HIGHLY recommend that our newsgroup members subscribe to the
Brit-Am magazine to gain a greater understanding of Orthodox Jewish
belief regarding this issue. In a recent edition of the magazine,
Brit-Am stated that they have come to the conclusion that the primary
religion of the Ten Lost Tribes today is Christianity.
